Welcome to the British Ultra Website

Currently there isn't a ' British Ultra' as such as our energies have been focused in other areas. Whilst the intention is to host such an event in the future, currently we have two fantastic events that you may wish to consider:

Beacons Ultra

The Beacons Ultra takes place within the stunning Brecon Beacons National Park. This latest offer from 'Likeys' threads its way through some of the best countryside the British Isles has to offer. The route is a real mix of picturesque canal towpath, ancient mining tramroads and high mountain passes.

The event will see competitors attempt a challenging 45 mile course, designed to be navigational friendly, yet providing the opportunity toexperience, safely some of the fantastic mountain terrain the National Park has to offer.

The event will provide the perfect challenge either as a ‘grand day out’ or for athletes preparing for multi day events in 2009 such as the Marathon Des Sables. Equally, the basic navigation requirements and well marked and marshaled course will provide an excellent opportunity for those athletes taking their first steps in to the world of Ultra Marathons.

6633 Ultra

From Eagle Plains, Yukon to the banks of the Arctic Ocean at Tuktoyaktuk

A true Arctic experience - this race really does enter the Arctic Circle and can quite genuinely claim to be the Toughest, Coldest, Windiest Extreme Ultra Marathon on the planet.

This race is only for big boys and girls unless you’re mad!!!!The 6633 ultra is a non stop self sufficient race over a distance of either 120 miles or 350 miles. Both races cross the line of the Arctic Circle, with the longer race continuing to the banks of the Arctic Ocean at Tuktoyaktuk. For 2010 only runners will be eligible to enter the race, albeit Cyclists will be able to take part on a "journey" basis subject to conditions that need to be discussed with the race organiser prior to entering.

Competitors will be expected to carry or pull on sleds all their provisions for the race including food, cooking items, clothing, sleeping kit and other safety gear.
